Australian made. Locally supported. Built for the long haul.

At Topo DC Power, we believe quality equipment should be built to last, not built to be replaced.

Our products are designed and manufactured with durability, reliability, efficiency and serviceability at their core.

We stand behind our workmanship, the quality of our components and the products we manufacture.

Every Topo battery product is backed by our manufacturer’s warranty, supported by our Australian workshop and technical support team.

Our commitment doesn’t end when your warranty expires.

We believe in maintaining, servicing and repairing products wherever practical, helping customers get the most from their equipment for years to come.

Manufacturer’s warranty coverage

Topo DC Power provides the following voluntary manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions.

5 years: battery warranty

All Topo DC Power battery products are covered by a five-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in battery cells, materials and manufacturing.

Coverage applies when products are operated, charged, stored and maintained in accordance with their intended use, operating instructions and published specifications.

Normal battery ageing and capacity degradation are not considered manufacturing defects.

24 months: components and electronics

All other parts and components are covered by a 24-month manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Battery Management Systems (BMS)
  • DC-DC charging systems
  • Solar charging controllers
  • Internal electronics and circuitry
  • Displays, indicators and monitoring systems
  • Switches and electrical connections
  • Input and output connectors
  • Internal wiring and associated components
  • Product housings and mechanical assemblies

Coverage applies to defects arising under normal use and does not extend to damage caused by misuse, accidental damage or operation outside published product specifications.

Warranty commencement

Both warranty periods commence from the original date of purchase.

The manufacturer’s warranty applies to eligible products purchased directly from Topo DC Power or an authorised reseller.

Warranty registration and proof of purchase are required as part of our warranty administration process, subject to applicable consumer protection laws.

These warranty benefits are provided in addition to rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Battery capacity and normal degradation

Understanding lithium battery ageing

Lithium batteries naturally experience gradual capacity reduction over time.

This is a normal characteristic of rechargeable battery technology and occurs through a combination of:

  • Charge and discharge cycles
  • Operating temperatures
  • Depth of discharge
  • Charging and storage conditions
  • Natural chemical ageing
  • Frequency and intensity of use

Normal battery capacity degradation is not considered a manufacturing defect and is excluded from Topo’s voluntary five-year battery warranty.

The five-year warranty does not guarantee that a battery will retain 100% of its original capacity throughout the warranty period.

However, premature or abnormal capacity loss may indicate a manufacturing defect.

Where abnormal battery performance is reported, Topo may assess the battery’s condition, operating history, charging behaviour and remaining capacity against its published specifications.

If the assessment identifies a covered manufacturing defect, Topo will provide the appropriate warranty remedy.

This exclusion does not restrict rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

Warranty registration

Register your product. Protect your investment.

Topo DC Power requires customers to register their products through our official warranty registration page to establish their voluntary manufacturer’s warranty record.

Registration must include:

  • Customer contact information
  • Product model
  • Product serial number
  • Original date of purchase
  • Proof of purchase from Topo DC Power or an authorised reseller

We recommend completing registration immediately after purchase.

Registration allows us to verify product details, maintain accurate service records and provide efficient technical and warranty support.

Important: Registration is required under Topo’s warranty administration process. However, a claim will not be rejected solely because registration was not completed where satisfactory proof of purchase and product eligibility can otherwise be established.

Failure to register does not remove or restrict any rights or remedies under Australian Consumer Law.

Workshop-based manufacturer’s warranty

Local support. Professional assessment. Practical repairs.

Topo DC Power operates a workshop-based manufacturer’s warranty.

Where a product develops a suspected defect, customers should contact our support team before returning the product.

Our technicians may first provide remote troubleshooting to identify and resolve the issue without requiring a workshop return.

Where physical inspection is necessary, the product may need to be returned to our workshop in Western Australia.

Freight and transportation

Freight and transportation are not included as additional benefits under Topo’s voluntary workshop-based manufacturer’s warranty.

Under the voluntary warranty arrangements, unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • Customers arrange transportation to our workshop.
  • Customers are responsible for freight charges not otherwise required to be covered by law.
  • Topo covers approved warranty repairs or replacements performed at our workshop.
  • Products must be transported in accordance with applicable lithium battery safety and dangerous goods requirements.

These arrangements do not limit Topo’s obligations under Australian Consumer Law.

Where a product is confirmed to have a fault covered by applicable consumer guarantees, reasonable return costs must be reimbursed as required by law.

For products that are large, heavy or difficult to return, Topo will meet any collection or transport obligations imposed by Australian Consumer Law.

Customers seeking reimbursement should retain freight receipts and submit them to our support team with their claim details.

Optional PowerGuard subscription

Additional support. Greater convenience. Peace of mind.

For customers who regularly travel, explore remote areas or rely on their equipment away from home, Topo recommends considering our optional PowerGuard subscription.

PowerGuard is intended to provide additional convenience and support benefits, including eligible freight assistance, subject to the subscription’s separate terms and conditions.

It is particularly suited to customers who want additional support arrangements while travelling or operating in remote locations.

PowerGuard is entirely optional.

Customers do not need a PowerGuard subscription to access their manufacturer’s warranty or any rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Major failures, repairs, replacements and refunds

Our commitment to resolving product failures

At Topo DC Power, we stand behind the quality, reliability and performance of our products.

Where a product develops a fault caused by defective materials or workmanship, we will assess the issue and provide an appropriate resolution.

Depending on the nature of the failure and applicable legal requirements, this may include:

Repair
Repairing or replacing defective components to restore the product to proper working condition.
Replacement
Providing an equivalent or suitable replacement product where repair is impractical, or where required by law.
Refund
Providing a refund where required under Australian Consumer Law or otherwise agreed by Topo DC Power.

Major product failures

Where a product experiences a major failure under Australian Consumer Law, the customer is generally entitled to choose between a refund and replacement.

A major failure may occur where a product:

  • Is unsafe.
  • Is substantially unfit for its intended purpose and cannot be made fit within a reasonable time.
  • Is significantly different from its description or demonstration model.
  • Has a serious problem that cannot be remedied.
  • Has a problem, or multiple problems, that would have prevented a reasonable consumer from purchasing it had they known the full circumstances.

Customers may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage resulting from a failure to meet applicable consumer guarantees.

For failures that do not constitute a major failure, Topo will provide an appropriate remedy within a reasonable time in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

Where the matter falls solely under Topo’s voluntary manufacturer’s warranty, Topo may elect to repair or replace the defective product or component in accordance with that warranty.

Misuse, accidental damage and external causes

Understanding the limits of our warranty

Topo products are engineered for demanding environments. However, correct installation, operation, charging and maintenance remain essential.

Our voluntary manufacturer’s warranty does not cover failures or damage caused by circumstances unrelated to defects in materials or workmanship.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Incorrect installation, wiring, charging or operation.
  • Misuse, negligence, abuse or accidental damage.
  • Operation outside published electrical or environmental specifications.
  • Unauthorised modifications or repairs that cause or contribute to a fault.
  • Connection to incompatible, defective or incorrectly configured equipment.
  • External electrical faults, short circuits, reverse polarity or excessive voltage.
  • Physical damage, excessive impact, crushing or improper handling.
  • Improper storage or maintenance contrary to product instructions.
  • Environmental exposure beyond the product’s published protection ratings.
  • Normal wear and tear, including ordinary cosmetic deterioration.
  • Normal lithium battery ageing and capacity degradation.

Damage to other equipment or property

To the extent permitted by law, Topo DC Power is not responsible for damage or losses caused solely by misuse, incorrect installation, improper operation, incompatible equipment or external circumstances for which Topo is not legally responsible.

This includes damage to connected equipment, vehicles, accessories or other property where the damage was not caused by a defect or failure for which Topo is legally responsible.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits liability for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage where compensation is required under Australian Consumer Law.

Warranty assessment

Topo reserves the right to inspect and assess products to determine the cause of a reported failure.

Assessments may include examination of the product’s condition, electrical systems, operating history and evidence of external damage.

Determinations will be made reasonably, based on available evidence and applicable legal obligations.

Where a fault is determined to fall outside the manufacturer’s warranty and does not give rise to a statutory remedy, inspection, repair, replacement and associated freight charges may be payable by the customer.

Any proposed charges will be communicated before proceeding.

How to make a warranty claim

Straightforward support when you need it

We aim to make warranty support as simple and efficient as possible.

  1. Contact Topo. Contact our support team and describe the issue you are experiencing. Many operating or setup issues can be resolved through basic troubleshooting without returning the product.
  2. Provide product details. Please provide:
    • Product model and serial number
    • Proof of purchase
    • Description of the fault
    • Photographs or videos, where helpful
    • Relevant operating or charging information
  3. Technical assessment. Our technical team will review the information provided and determine whether additional testing or inspection is necessary.
  4. Workshop return. If physical inspection is required, we will provide return instructions and applicable freight information. Please contact Topo before dispatching any lithium battery product. Products must be transported in accordance with applicable freight and dangerous goods requirements.
  5. Resolution. Once the fault has been assessed, Topo will advise the outcome and arrange the appropriate repair, replacement, refund or other remedy. Where a defect is covered by our voluntary manufacturer’s warranty, the approved workshop repair or replacement will be provided without charging for the covered work. Any remedies required under Australian Consumer Law will take precedence.

Assessment fees

Where inspection confirms that no product fault exists, or that the issue falls outside warranty coverage and does not give rise to a statutory remedy, an assessment fee of $88 including GST may apply.

Customers will be advised of applicable charges before proceeding.

No fee will be charged where doing so would conflict with Topo’s obligations under Australian Consumer Law.

Support beyond the warranty

Our commitment doesn’t have an expiry date.

We don’t believe a product should become disposable simply because its manufacturer’s warranty has ended.

Topo DC Power products are developed with long-term serviceability in mind.

Even after the five-year battery or 24-month component warranty period has expired, we remain committed to supporting our customers and their equipment.

Where practical and subject to parts availability, our services include:

  • Technical advice and troubleshooting
  • Product inspection and diagnostics
  • Replacement components
  • Battery servicing or replacement
  • Electronics servicing and repair
  • General maintenance and product support

Out-of-warranty repairs may incur assessment, labour, component and freight charges.

We will advise customers of applicable charges before proceeding.

While we aim to provide ongoing support, the availability of replacement components and repair services may vary with product age and technical feasibility.

Our philosophy is simple: repair where practical, replace only when necessary.

This commitment operates alongside any continuing rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Warranty ownership and transfers

Our voluntary manufacturer’s warranty is provided to the original purchaser of an eligible Topo product purchased directly from Topo DC Power or an authorised reseller.

The voluntary manufacturer’s warranty is not automatically transferable to subsequent owners.

Any rights or remedies available to subsequent owners under applicable law remain unaffected.

Australian Consumer Law

Your rights are protected

Our manufacturer’s warranty and optional PowerGuard subscription operate in addition to your statutory consumer rights.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

These rights apply independently of Topo’s voluntary manufacturer’s warranty, registration arrangements and subscription services.

Consumer guarantees may continue to apply beyond the stated manufacturer’s warranty periods.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Returns and change of mind

Our manufacturer’s warranty covers eligible defects in materials and workmanship.

Change-of-mind returns are handled separately under our Returns Policy.

Where Topo accepts an eligible change-of-mind return, applicable conditions may include return timeframes, product condition and customer-paid freight.

These conditions do not restrict any rights to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
